Content Writing

How can you make money with your blog?

If you are good at writing then why not make some easy cash from your blog. No matter what type of a blogger you are, there are real ways from which you can make an income, simply from blogging. I am going to list a variety of options for you to get paid by writing and managing a blog. Read about the different ways to monetize your blog and choose the one you see fit for your needs.

CPC or CPM Ads

Earn money by placing ads on your site/blog. Google AdSense is one of the most preferred networks for this facility. There are two popular types of ads:

CPC/PPC Ads:

Cost per Click or Pay per Click ads are usually banners that you place at strategic locations in your blog. You get paid each time a reader clicks on the ad.

CPM Ads:

“Cost per 1,000 impressions,” – are ads that pay a fixed amount of money based on the number of people who view the ad.

Google AdSense, Chitika, Infolinks, and Media.net are networks that help you place ads on your blog without you having to directly contact advertisers.

Sell Private ads:

If your blog produces sufficient traffic, companies looking to advertise may contact you to place their ads in the form of banners, buttons or links on your site. You can even contact advertisers directly and you can fix your own rate.

Make money by creating dedicated posts for the advertisers who are looking for a native advertising platform. Native advertising is a form of disguised advertising in which your blog posts will be aimed at promoting a service or a product offered by the advertiser.  The content of the blog can be videos, images, articles, reviews or anything that is approved by the advertiser.

Moral tip: If your site is a news channel, please do not publish native ads. Just report the truth.

Include Affiliate Links in Your Content

Affiliate marketing is a type of marketing in which a business rewards its affiliates for each visitor or customer brought by the affiliate’s marketing efforts.

So, If you are having trouble finding topics to write about, just take up an affiliate program like that of Flipkart’s or Amazon’s and start posting affiliate links in dedicated posts.

You can include affiliate links directly in the content or through banner ads. When a reader clicks on the link and buys the product you have recommended, you earn a percentage of what he/she purchased.

Side Note: Try affiliating the affiliate program like me.

Sell Digital Products

Make money selling digital products like:

  • eBooks
  • Online courses/workshops
  • Images, video, or music people can use in their own content
  • Apps, plugins, or themes

Make sure that you develop useful products according to your readers’ needs. Get suggestions from your readers first, and then create a digital product that will meet their needs.

Moral tip: Don’t rip off your readers.

Use the blog as a Content Marketing Tool for Your Business

Develop your blog as a content marketing tool that will drive visitors to your business website. Maintaining a business blog has plenty of benefits like exhibiting professionalism, Increasing site traffic, more SEO options, and most importantly, a very meaningful reason for having a blog.

Many companies are now starting business blogs after realizing its actual purpose, which is to gain the potential customer’s trust and imprint its brand image in the minds of its readers.

Bonus tip: Don’t post about your ex in your business blog unless you are Taylor swift.

Nag readers to take premium memberships

Make money by selling memberships to exclusive regions of your website.

For instance, an online job search platform like Naukri may charge a specific amount monthly for users to gain access to more job listings. The premium members have to be treated more specially than the majority of ‘Freeloading monkeys’.

Side Note: In the earlier example I swear I was not marketing naukri.com, which has plenty of amazing jobs.

Bonus tip: It is still annoying if you have gold and silver memberships. Try platinum, though.

Use it to Build Your Credibility

“The one who talks the most about the weird smell is usually the one who farted.”

Blogging to build credibility has a very similar principle to the aforementioned quote. If your blog content gains popularity, naturally you become a recognized figure in your field.

“Everyone wants to hang out with the cool kid.”

If you have built credibility, the options just became endless for you. You get more advertisers, projects, job, death threats and many more money-making opportunities.

Side Note: Don’t worry about the death threats unless your blog supports terrorism.

This may not seem like a direct way of making money, but it has worked for many well-known bloggers, and it can work for you, too. If you still want a direct revenue stream, just work really hard to make your blog popular and then sell its branding and content to make money.

Side Note: Don’t expect to become rich by just creating a blog with just a “Hello world” post. If you want to make money, then more blogging and less complaining.

I steal from the ‘Zen’ principles.

Shoshin – The Beginners Mind

Build relationships with other bloggers, advertisers, affiliate partners, sponsors, and readers. If you need your blog to be successful then you will definitely need these relationships.

Wish you all the luck in the world.
